Replacing the Lagoon 440 - a catamaran widely regarded as a benchmark - was no easy task, but the VPLP naval architects, in partnership with Nauta Design, have been brilliantly successful in creating the Lagoon 450.

The irreplaceable qualities of the Lagoon 440 were retained as a starting point: flybridge steering station accessible from both sides, a forward cockpit, performance under sail... but as a larger boat, and with increased sail area, the Lagoon 450 benefits from important improvements in terms of safety, performance and cruising comfort.

In response to owner requests, Lagoon introduced the Lagoon 450 and Lagoon 52 SporTop versions, with a bulkhead steering station in place of the flybridge.

This version of these two models is designed specifically for pleasure cruisers who prefer a more conventional helm station, and are also more suitable for sailing with a smaller crew.

The lines of both models are also sleeker, lending the SporTop versions an extra dash of elegance. Lowered rigs provide greater stability for the same sail surface area, access between the cockpit and the helm station is easier and there is also the possibility of closing off the helm station for shelter in bad weather.

Both the Lagoon 450 and 52 SporTop feature new U-shaped galley layouts and the Lagoon 450 SporTop has new forward cabins with side access berths.
