The new Lagoon 40 offers a combination of the best elements of the previous Lagoon 39 and Lagoon 400 models:
the mast positioned further aft, a decision stemming directly from Lagoon's naval architect's experience in competitive sailing, offers a number of advantages:
self-tacking jib for easy maneuvering
a large forward triangle for a wider choice of downwind sails
a shorter boom for easier handling
a mainsail with a high aspect ratio for better performance
the centering of rigging weight considerably reduces pitching
substantial volume in both salon and cockpit, where the dining table can seat up to 12
an ergonomic helm station, accessible from the cockpit or deck
wide aft transoms with a spacious swim platform and easy boarding
3-cabin or 4-cabin layouts, large hull windows providing natural light and panoramic views
The cockpit, in particular, is reminiscent of the Lagoon 42, with the entire area from the top step of the transoms through to the main salon all on one level, connecting all areas into one large and open living space.
